Castlelaw is an Iron Age hill fort on the southern edge of Edinburgh, usually reached as part of a Pentland Hills walk. The earthworks are subtle, but the site rewards anyone who likes their history out in the open air.
The best feature is the souterrain, an underground stone passage linked to the fort. Combine it with a longer walk from Glencorse or the nearby hills rather than treating it as a quick city-centre sight.
