Halligarth Woodland is unusual simply because it is woodland on Unst, where trees are scarce and wind shapes almost everything. The sheltered planting around the old estate creates a small but memorable contrast to the island's open moor and coast.
Treat it as a short walk rather than a major attraction. It works best in combination with Baltasound, Muness Castle, or other Unst stops when you want a gentler pause out of the wind.
