Rhue Lighthouse is a simple white lighthouse at the mouth of Loch Broom, a short way north of Ullapool. It is not a grand tower, but the position is excellent: water on three sides, hills behind, and the Summer Isles scattered across the horizon.
The walk out is easy and refreshing, especially after time in the village or on the ferry road. Bring a camera and a windproof layer; this is a place where the view changes quickly with light and weather.
