For a small village, Ullapool punches well above its weight for food. The fishing boats mean fresh seafood is a constant, and several restaurants and the local chippy make good use of it. The Ceilidh Place hotel has a good restaurant and a bookshop-café that doubles as a cultural venue. The Seafood Shack, operating from a converted horsebox on the waterfront, has become something of a destination in its own right — queues form at lunch.
