South Beach

Long, dune-backed beach stretching south toward Giltar Point

Quieter and much longer than North Beach, South Beach runs for about a mile and a half south from the town, backed by dunes and the long line of Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It is more exposed to the wind, which makes it the better beach for kite-flying, walking and swimming when the sea is rougher.

At the far southern end, the sands run up against Giltar Point and the village of Penally, with views across to Caldey Island. The beach is wide enough at low tide that even in busy August you can find a quiet spot.
