You will need a car on Great Exuma. George Town itself is walkable, but the beaches, restaurants, and settlements are spread along 40 miles of Queen's Highway from Rolleville in the north to Williams Town on Little Exuma in the south. Several rental agencies operate near the airport and in George Town — book ahead in high season as the fleet is small.
Taxis are available but expensive for anything beyond an airport transfer. There is no public bus service. To reach Stocking Island, water taxis run regularly from the Government Dock in George Town ($10-15 return). Day trips to the Exuma Cays (swimming pigs, Thunderball Grotto, Allen's Cay) are run by several boat tour operators out of George Town; a full-day excursion typically costs $200-300 per person.
