The Exumas have a subtropical climate — warm year-round, with a dry season from December to April and a wetter, hotter stretch from May to November. Daytime temperatures in peak season sit between 24-27C (75-80F) with low humidity and reliable sunshine. Summer temperatures climb a few degrees higher and afternoon rain showers are common but brief. Hurricane season officially runs June to November, with the highest risk in September and October.
December to April is peak season. The weather is ideal, the water is calm, and prices are at their highest. Book well ahead for this period.
The National Family Island Regatta in April is the biggest event of the year — traditional Bahamian sloop racing in Elizabeth Harbour, live music, food stalls, and a party atmosphere that fills every room in George Town. If you want to come for the regatta, book months in advance. If you want to avoid crowds, skip that week.
May and November offer a sweet spot: good weather, fewer visitors, and lower prices. The sea is warm enough for comfortable swimming year-round.
