George Washington House

Restored Bridgetown house where George Washington stayed in 1751

George Washington House preserves the Bridgetown-area house where a young George Washington stayed during his 1751 visit to Barbados. The site links Caribbean plantation society, Atlantic history and Washington's only trip outside what became the United States.

The museum is close to the Garrison historic area, so it fits naturally with a heritage walk south of central Bridgetown. Exhibits also address the broader 18th-century island context, not just the famous visitor.
