South Point Lighthouse

The oldest lighthouse in Barbados, South Point stands at the island's southernmost tip — a cast-iron tower painted in diagonal red-and-white stripes that has guided ships around the reef since 1852. It is not open for climbing, but the walk to it along the coast from Oistins passes through the quiet, windswept landscape of the island's southern edge, with views out toward the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other.

The lighthouse itself was manufactured in Britain and shipped in sections to Barbados, a common engineering solution for colonial outposts in the 19th century.
