Christ Church has the best swimming beaches on the island. The south coast's calm, reef-protected waters are shallow enough for young children and clear enough for snorkelling straight off the sand. Accra Beach at Rockley is the closest to Bridgetown and the most popular; Dover Beach and Miami Beach near Oistins are slightly further and slightly calmer. Silver Sands at the southeastern tip draws windsurfers and kitesurfers year-round — the constant trade winds make it one of the best spots in the Caribbean for both.
