Road Town Fort

Road Town Fort sits on Russell Hill above the main wharf, a small colonial fort built by the British in the late 18th century to defend the harbour. Only the lower stone walls and a few cannon emplacements survive, but the position gives a clear view across Road Harbour and the Sir Francis Drake Channel to Norman Island and Peter Island — exactly the line of sight the fort was built to command.

Easily reached on a short climb from Main Street; takes no more than half an hour to visit. Combine with Fort Burt at the southern end of town for a 90-minute walk along the harbour-defence line.
