One of Osoyoos's most respected boutique wineries, making Italian-style wines from varieties — Sangiovese, Moscato Bianco, Lagrein — that few other BC wineries attempt. The estate sits on a steep bench north of town with a small tasting room that gets busy on summer weekends. The Allegretto white blend and the Moscato Bianco are particularly good, and the wines are priced at a level that reflects genuine ambition without extravagance.
LaStella is part of a small cluster of wineries in the north Osoyoos area that reward a half-day of exploration. The desert setting — scrubby hillside, rattlesnake habitat signs on the vineyard paths — is a reminder that Osoyoos wine country looks and feels nothing like Napa or the Okanagan's more northern stretches.
