Lost Lake

Lost Lake sits about fifteen minutes' walk from Whistler Village and is the most accessible of the area's lakes for casual visitors. In summer, the lake has a sandy beach, a swimming dock, and calm water that warms up enough for comfortable swimming by July. The surrounding park is threaded with trails used for cross-country skiing in winter and mountain biking and walking in summer.

The Lost Lake loop trail is an easy 4-kilometre circuit through forest and along the lakeshore, suitable for all fitness levels and popular with families. More ambitious cyclists connect to the Valley Trail, which links the lake to Alta Lake and runs for many kilometres through the Whistler valley. Early morning or late afternoon is the best time to visit in summer — midday brings the crowds.

A story
Lost Lake Park was once Whistler's de facto nude sunbathing beach in the days before the village was developed and hotel construction changed the sight lines. The tradition faded as the resort grew, though the lake retains its reputation as a place for locals rather than just passing tourists.
