Whistler Blackcomb is the biggest ski resort in North America by skiable terrain, spreading across two side-by-side mountains with over 8,000 acres of runs, more than 200 trails, and 16 alpine bowls. The vertical drop on Whistler Mountain alone exceeds 1,500 metres, and Blackcomb's Horstman Glacier offers summer skiing most years. The season typically runs from late November to April, sometimes longer.
The mountain infrastructure is exceptional. The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola links the summits of Whistler and Blackcomb at nearly 2,200 metres elevation, allowing skiers to ski both mountains in a single day without returning to the village. The gondola ride itself is worth doing even if you don't ski — on a clear day you can see deep into the Coast Mountains in every direction. Day passes are expensive, but the terrain justifies the price if you have the skills to use it.
