Digby is a small working town on the Bay of Fundy, best known for scallops and the ferry from Saint John. It is not polished, and that helps: the waterfront still belongs to boats, weather, and restaurants selling the catch that made the town famous.
The town has a simple day-trip shape. Walk Digby Harbour, look into Loyalist and shipping history at the Admiral Digby Museum, and eat scallops by the water. If you have a car, the stronger natural drama is farther down Digby Neck at Balancing Rock Trail, where basalt cliffs and Fundy tides make the trip feel much larger than the town.
Digby is worth a day if you are already moving along Nova Scotia's west coast or arriving by ferry. It is less convincing as a standalone detour from Halifax, but as a Fundy-side stop with seafood and a working harbour, it earns its place.
