Eating Out

Port Burwell is small and the choice is short, but the lake delivers the goods. Lake Erie yellow perch — small, white-fleshed, deep-fried — is the local fish and most places do a version of fish and chips with it. Smelt, when in season in April, is the other Lake Erie speciality worth ordering.

The main strip is Robinson Street between the highway and the lighthouse. Off-season, hours shrink: many restaurants in town close on weekdays from November to April.
