Port Burwell

Quiet Lake Erie town with sandy beaches, a historic lighthouse, and local perch on summer tables.

Port Burwell is a small town on the north shore of Lake Erie in southwestern Ontario, the kind of quiet lakeside community that Canadians escape to on summer weekends. It sits within three hours of Toronto and is easily reached from Windsor and Niagara Falls.

The town has sandy beaches, a quiet main street, a historic lighthouse, and several restaurants serving excellent local fish — perch from Lake Erie is the thing to order. Just west of town, across Otter Creek, Port Burwell Provincial Park has its own two-kilometre sand beach and campgrounds for tents and trailers.
