Short Hills Provincial Park covers about 700 hectares of rolling escarpment terrain on the western edge of St. Catharines. Five named trails loop through Carolinian woodland, past Swayze Falls and several smaller cascades on the headwaters of Twelve Mile Creek. The Bruce Trail runs along the eastern boundary.
The park has no road access for cars (parking lots sit at five trailhead entries) and no facilities to speak of — bring water, wear sturdy shoes. Spring wildflowers and autumn colour are the best seasons; summer can be humid and tick-heavy. A pleasant half-day hike close to the city.
