Old Don Jail

The Old Don Jail is one of Toronto's most strikingly odd Victorian buildings: a former prison with a grand, almost palatial facade. It opened in 1864 and later became notorious as the site of Canada's last judicial hangings in 1962.

The building is now part of the Bridgepoint Health complex, but the restored rotunda, preserved cell block, plaques, and surrounding grounds make it a good self-guided stop. It pairs well with Riverdale Farm and the Toronto Necropolis nearby.
