Magog is a small resort town in Quebec's Eastern Townships, set where the Magog River leaves long, narrow Lake Memphremagog. It has enough old brick, waterside paths, cafes, and summer theatre to feel like more than a lakefront suburb, and the wooded bulk of Mont Orford gives the town a proper mountain backdrop.
The best day here mixes water and walking. Start at Pointe Merry, follow the shore or board a Lake Memphremagog cruise, then spend time in the Marais de la Riviere aux Cerises, a wetland reserve with boardwalks just east of town. In the evening, Le Vieux Clocher is the local cultural anchor.
Magog is also a practical base for Mont-Orford National Park, which has hiking and lakes in summer and skiing nearby in winter. It is worth a day if you are in Sherbrooke, Granby, or Montreal and want a Townships lake town with real texture.
