Saint-Siméon

Charlevoix river village near coves, ferry crossings, and the rocky St. Lawrence shore.

Saint-Siméon sits on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, east of La Malbaie and west of Baie-Sainte-Catherine. It is a small Charlevoix village rather than a resort town, but the surrounding shore has enough beauty for a spare day if you are already travelling the coast.

The best stops are not far apart. Baie-des-Rochers gives you coves, trails, and river views; Port-au-Persil is one of the prettiest hamlets on this stretch of the St. Lawrence; and the Rivière-du-Loup-Saint-Siméon Ferry turns a practical crossing into a scenic hour on big water.

Saint-Siméon is easy to underrate because many travellers pass through on the way to Tadoussac. Slow down and it becomes a compact Charlevoix day: rocky shore, white church, working ferry, and the river looking almost like the sea.
