The House of Assembly is the unicameral parliament of Dominica, a small but dignified neoclassical building of pale stone behind the cathedral. The chamber seats just 32 members — the Speaker, 21 elected representatives and nine appointed senators — making it one of the smaller national legislatures in the world.
The building is not generally open to visitors, but tours can be arranged through the Speaker's office. From the outside, the building, with the State House and the cathedral nearby, gives a compact sense of how the capital of a small nation is laid out.
