The nightlife and bar scene in San Salvador has improved substantially since the decline of gang violence in the early 2020s. The Zona Rosa and Colonia San Benito areas have the most concentration of bars and clubs, ranging from relaxed cocktail bars to more energetic clubs playing reggaeton and electronic music. The craft beer scene has taken hold — El Salvador produces some decent local microbrews.
The streets of Zona Rosa are lively on weekend evenings, with people spilling out of restaurants into outdoor seating. Use taxis or apps (Uber operates here) for getting between nightlife areas rather than walking at night.
