San Salvador's Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport (SAL) is about 40 km southeast of the city centre, near the town of Comalapa. It has direct connections to Miami, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and most Central American capitals. Avianca and American Airlines are the main carriers from North America.
Taxis from the airport to the city centre take 45-60 minutes depending on traffic and cost around $25-35 (negotiate before you get in or use an app). The ACSA bus service is cheaper but slower. Uber also operates from the airport.
By road, San Salvador is connected to Guatemala City (about 4 hours) and Tegucigalpa, Honduras (about 5 hours). International bus services (Tica Bus, Pullmantur) serve these routes with comfortable coaches.
