The Nuuk Art Museum occupies a restored colonial building near the Katuaq centre and displays a collection focused on Greenlandic and Arctic art from the nineteenth century to the present. The historical section, including works by Aron of Kangeq and other early Inuit artists, is valuable as a cultural document as much as an art collection. The contemporary section reflects the complexity of modern Greenlandic identity — works that are simultaneously Inuit, Danish-influenced, and internationally aware.
The museum is small and can be seen in an hour. Combined with the National Museum, it provides a full picture of Greenlandic visual culture. Open most days in summer; reduced hours in winter.
