Eating Out

Nuuk has a small but reasonably developed restaurant scene for a city of its size. Local ingredients — Arctic char, reindeer, musk ox, Greenlandic lamb, king crab — appear regularly on menus at the better places. Prices are high by international standards: everything in Greenland is expensive because everything is imported or shipped at significant cost.

The best value is at the local lunch spots around the city centre, where a simple meal costs considerably less than the tourist-oriented restaurants near the museum quarter. Several restaurants have improved significantly since Nuuk's new international airport opened in 2024 and visitor numbers increased.
