The Maguen David Synagogue is a Conservative Jewish synagogue in the Barrio Guamilito area, serving a community descended largely from Sephardic immigrants who came to Honduras from the Middle East in the late 19th century. The building, dating from the mid-20th century, is a well-maintained example of mid-century religious architecture and one of the more architecturally distinctive religious buildings in the city.
The Jewish community of San Pedro Sula, while small, played a significant role in the city's commercial development. The synagogue is not generally open for casual visits, but the exterior is visible from the street and marks an interesting aspect of the city's diverse cultural history. Visitors with a genuine interest in the community should contact in advance.
