Kingston's shopping divides between the uptown malls (Marketplace, Sovereign Centre, Twin Gates Plaza) that stock international brands and familiar chains, and the independent stores and markets that carry Jamaican-made goods. For visitors, the latter is far more interesting. Devon House Bakery and the shops around Devon House grounds carry high-quality Jamaican food products; the Kingston Crafts Market on the waterfront covers craft and souvenir shopping; and the Papine and Half Way Tree areas have the best music shops if you want to dig through vinyl or buy local CDs.
