Scotchies, on the airport road east of town, is widely accepted as the best jerk joint in MoBay — possibly in Jamaica. The setup is open-air: thatched roofs, picnic tables, a row of long fire pits behind a corrugated counter where pork shoulders, chicken, and sausages smoulder over pimento wood. Order at the counter, take a Red Stripe to a bench, and wait for them to chop your jerk into bite-sized pieces with a cleaver.
It is busy at lunch but the queue moves. Side dishes — festival (sweet fried dumplings), bammy, rice and peas — are all good. Cash only and worth the short taxi from the Hip Strip.
