Montego Bay's tourist axis is the Hip Strip on Gloucester Avenue, lined with bars, restaurants, and the entrance to Doctor's Cave Beach. Behind the strip lies the real town: Sam Sharpe Square at the heart of downtown, the bustling Harbour Street, and a string of imposing Georgian-era buildings. East of the city are two of the great plantation houses of the Caribbean — Rose Hall and Greenwood — easily combined as a half-day trip.
