Martha Brae River Rafting

A 30-foot bamboo raft, a single boatman with a long pole, and three slow miles of green river bordered by jungle — the Martha Brae rafting trip is the classic Jamaican afternoon, easygoing and quietly memorable. Trips start at Rafter's Village near Falmouth, about 35 km east of Montego Bay, and end at Martha Brae village.

The river is gentle, often barely moving. The boatman keeps up a relaxed running commentary on plants, birds, and Jamaican rural life. The total time on the river is around 90 minutes. Pair this with a visit to Falmouth itself for a full half-day trip out of MoBay.
