Local buses run throughout Guaymas for 5 pesos a trip. Taxis are available and inexpensive by US standards. Renting a car is the easiest way to reach San Carlos and the beaches; if bringing a vehicle from the US, Mexican insurance is required and cars must be registered at the border. Parking police in Mexico take licence plates rather than towing — pay fines at the police station to recover your plate before crossing back into the US.
