El Adoquín

El Adoquín is the pedestrianized street that forms the social heart of Puerto Escondido's tourist district. Named for the adoquín (cobblestone) paving underfoot, the strip runs through the Pérez Gasga neighbourhood near the main beach and concentrates the town's restaurants, bars, tour operators, and shops into a walkable stretch. At night it becomes an extended outdoor seating area, with tables spilling out from bars and restaurants, vendors selling jewellery and crafts, and the occasional musician setting up near the beachfront end.

The vibe is laid-back and genuinely friendly. You can sit at an open-air bar, nurse a mezcal or a cold Modelo, and watch the surf-town world pass by. It gets busy on weekends and during the November surf competition season, when the town fills with surfers and spectators from across Mexico and beyond.
