The dry season, November through April, is the best time to visit Campeche. Temperatures are warm (25–30°C) but not oppressive, humidity is lower, and rain is infrequent. February through April are particularly pleasant.
The wet season (May–October) brings afternoon thunderstorms and high humidity. July through September can be uncomfortably hot and sticky. The Hanal Pixán festival (the Mayan Day of the Dead equivalent) in late October/early November is worth timing a visit around — the city's cemeteries are decorated with marigolds and candles, and the atmosphere is genuinely festive rather than morbid. The December Feria de San Francisco brings a fairground and concerts to the city.
