Renaissance Mall & Rif Fort

Rif Fort was built in 1828 to guard the entrance to Sint Anna Bay. Its thick stone walls and harbour position survive, but the interior is now part of the Renaissance complex, filled with shops, restaurants, and bars. Steps and passages through the old fort provide views towards Punda and the Queen Emma Bridge.

The conversion is highly commercial, yet the fort remains a useful stop while walking around Otrobanda. Enter from the waterfront, look around the masonry and old gun positions, then continue through to the Queen Emma Bridge or deeper into the neighbourhood.
