On the far eastern side of the island, Playa Zoni is the quiet alternative to Flamenco. A mile of pale sand facing east, with views across the channel to Culebrita and, on a clear day, the British Virgin Islands. The water is usually calmer than at Flamenco and the snorkelling at the rocky points is excellent for spotting turtles.
There are no facilities — no kiosks, no showers, no shade — so bring water and a hat. Sea turtles nest on Zoni between April and August, and parts of the beach are roped off during the season.
