A small lagoon a fifteen-minute walk south-west of downtown, on the line of the Coastal Trail. In summer it is a stopover for trumpeter swans, mallards, geese, and the occasional moose, with a path looping the shore and a few benches for sitting. In winter it freezes, and the city clears and lights several rinks for free skating into the evening — bring your own skates.
It is one of the best places in the city to feel the seasonal rhythm of Anchorage. The Coastal Trail runs straight through, and the lagoon makes a natural turnaround point for a casual walk or short bike ride.
