Flagstaff's position in northern Arizona makes it one of the best bases for day trips in the American Southwest. The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 80 miles north and takes under two hours to drive. Sedona, with its famous red rock formations, is 45 minutes south. Page and Antelope Canyon are two and a half hours. Monument Valley, the Navajo Nation's iconic landscape, is about three hours east on Highway 160.
