The Hassayampa Inn, built in 1927, is Prescott's most distinguished historic hotel — a Spanish Colonial Revival building whose lobby is one of the most attractive interiors in downtown. The painted ceiling beams, wrought-iron fixtures, and original furniture give it a warmth that most historic hotels lose in renovation. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Even if you are not staying here, the lobby bar is open to visitors and is probably the most atmospheric place in Prescott for an afternoon drink. The hotel restaurant occupies a handsome dining room with pressed-metal ceilings. The whole building has been maintained with unusual care — the period details are genuine rather than reproduction.
The Hassayampa has a reputation for being haunted, with several reported sightings of a bride who allegedly died there in the 1920s shortly after her wedding. The staff treat this with an appropriate mixture of deadpan seriousness and gentle amusement.
