Beaches

Ventura's beaches run along the coast from the harbor northward. They're wide, relatively uncrowded by Southern California standards, and — fair warning — often windy. The water is cold year-round; most people in the water are in wetsuits. San Buenaventura State Beach stretches for two miles north of the harbor and is the most accessible, with a bike path along the sand. Surfer's Point at the fairgrounds end draws the surfing crowd. The water quality is generally good away from the harbor mouth.
