San Diego Country Club

The San Diego Country Club is a private golf club on the eastern side of Chula Vista, operating one of the oldest courses in San Diego County. Founded in 1897 and relocated to its current site in the 1920s, the club has hosted significant professional events including a US Women's Open. The grounds occupy a broad hillside above the valley with views across the city toward the bay.

The club is private and not generally accessible to visitors, but it is worth knowing as part of Chula Vista's older, more established residential fabric east of the freeway. The surrounding neighbourhood of Chula Vista Vista has some of the city's most established tree-lined streets. The Cerutti Mastodon site, where evidence of ancient human activity in the Americas was discovered, lies nearby on the eastern flanks of the city.
