di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art

Sprawling Carneros art park focused on Bay Area contemporary art

The di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art occupies a 217-acre property in the Carneros wine country south of Napa, dedicated almost entirely to art from the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded by collectors Rene and Veronica di Rosa, the collection of around 1,600 works includes major pieces by Robert Arneson, William T. Wiley, Joan Brown, Bruce Conner and other Bay Area Figurative and Funk artists.

The site includes three gallery buildings, an outdoor sculpture park threaded with hiking trails, and a small lake. Visits are largely self-guided; guided tours run on weekends. It is a serious art museum hiding in the vineyards, and a welcome alternative for visitors who want a break from tasting rooms.
