Oakland's waterfront district, named after the author who grew up on the estuary. Restaurants, shops, and a weekend farmers' market line the boardwalk. You can catch the ferry to San Francisco from here, making it both a destination and a transit hub. The reconstructed Yukon cabin where London reportedly lived during the Gold Rush sits near the marina. Busiest on weekends, but pleasant for a weekday stroll along the water.
