Mission San Miguel

Mission San Miguel Arcangel was founded in 1797 and remains one of the more atmospheric California missions. Its long arcade, thick adobe walls, and surviving interior frescoes make it feel less polished than some better-known missions, which is part of its appeal. The mission reopened after repairs from the 2003 earthquake and is still associated with the Franciscan community.
