Sunnyvale Baylands Park

177 acres of restored tidal marsh on the southern edge of San Francisco Bay, with three miles of multi-use trails through grassland and salt pond. The park is one of the easiest places on the peninsula to see herons, egrets, marsh wrens, and the endangered Ridgway's rail.

A small playground and group picnic areas sit near the entrance off Caribbean Drive. Best at low tide when the mudflats are exposed and shorebirds are feeding. Open dawn to dusk; small parking fee.
