The art deco bar inside the Oxford Hotel opened the day after Prohibition ended in 1933 and the design has barely changed. A long pink-illuminated room with chromed wall panels modelled on the lounges of the Queen Mary, it serves classic cocktails to a quiet, mostly adult crowd. It is a National Historic Landmark.
Cocktails are slightly more expensive than the LoDo average but the room is the point. A Sazerac or a Sidecar here is one of Denver's small civilising rituals.
