The Butler McCook House & Garden is one of Hartford's oldest surviving houses, dating to 1782. Its rooms hold art, antiques, and household objects connected with generations of the same family, giving a more domestic view of the city's history than the larger public landmarks nearby.
The restored garden is part of the visit and makes the site a calm stop in downtown Hartford. It pairs well with the Wadsworth Atheneum, the Ancient Burying Ground, and the Old State House.
