Rockwood Park and Museum is one of Wilmington's better combinations of architecture and open space. The centrepiece is a Gothic Revival mansion, preserved with period interiors, but the surrounding parkland is almost as important: lawns, trees, paths, and a setting that makes the house feel like an estate rather than an isolated museum object.
It works well for travellers who have already seen the Delaware Art Museum or who want a quieter historic site outside the downtown core. The house gives the visit structure, while the grounds make it easy to linger without turning the stop into a formal museum appointment.
