Bars and Cafes

The nightlife is concentrated on three strips. Las Olas Boulevard has sidewalk cafés, wine bars and well-dressed cocktail places — O'Hara's Jazz Café, a fixture on Las Olas for decades, still has live jazz seven nights a week. Himmarshee Street in downtown Fort Lauderdale is rowdier, with nightclubs, sports bars and a lively after-work crowd. And along the beachfront, A1A is lined with open-air bars where the music goes late and the dress code is effectively swimwear. For something quieter, The Poor House on SW 3rd Avenue is a long-running dive bar with local blues and jazz.
