Getting Around

The most fun way to get around Fort Lauderdale is by boat. The Water Taxi runs a regular hop-on, hop-off service along the Intracoastal Waterway, linking Las Olas, the beach hotels, and the restaurants around the marina — for a day pass, it doubles as a sightseeing cruise. On land, the Sun Trolley is a free downtown bus that loops between Las Olas, Brickell, the beach and the convention centre. Broward County Transit buses cover the wider area but are slow; most visitors end up renting a car, which is almost essential if you plan to go anywhere outside the beachfront and downtown core. Parking downtown and at the beach is metered and aggressively enforced.
